Originally from Green Bay, WI, Mr. Ramsay concluded his 2005 season with a successful return to Lyric Opera of Chicago singing the leading role of Mark for the final three performances of “The Midsummer Marriage.” Of his many appearances at LOC, he received critical acclaim after assuming the role of Edgardo in “Lucia di Lammermoor” opposite Natalie Dessay. While a member of Lyric Opera’s Center for American ArtistsMr. Ramsay sang principal roles in “Otello,” “La Boheme,” “Die Zauberflöte,” “Parsifal,” “La Traviata,” “Samson et Dalila,” “Regina,” “Lucia di Lammermoor” and “Madama Butterfly.” Symphonic engagements have included multiple appearances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony, Grant Park Symphony, Albany Symphony and Jacksonville Symphony. 2006 engagements include leading roles in “Semele” at Arizona Opera, “Don Giovanni” with Austin Lyric Opera, “Turandot” at Lyric Opera of Chicagoand “Lucia di Lammermoor” with Kentucky Opera.
