A Tony award-winning musical and Broadway’s smash hit is a collection of fairy-book characters on a journey of growth and self-discovery. Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (of Beanstock fame) are woven together with the tale of The Baker and his Wife, but don’t expect the familiar bedtime stories. At first the tales are as you remember, told through humorous and beautiful songs. But then events take a serious turn when the Giantess arrives seeking revenge on Jack for her husband’s death and the characters learn there are consequences to their actions. This may sound like a children’s fantasy, but the life lessons learned in the deep, dark forest are one’s learned after the “Happy Ever After.”
