Volunteers Needed Saturday, May 10th – Spring Clean Event

Peninsula Players Theatre is calling for passionate individuals to join its volunteer team, affectionately known as the Broom Squad, for its Spring Clean event Saturday, May 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.   Volunteers are asked to call the Box Office at (920) 868-3287 to register in advance, as a chili lunch is provided for the volunteers.

For more than 30 years, the Pete Schuster Memorial Broom Squad has gathered at the theatre each Saturday morning before Mother’s Day to help prepare the grounds and residential rooms for the theatre’s company members.  “What started as a small gathering of 10 or so friends, brought together by Pete Schuster, has grown into a cherished and highly anticipated annual event,” said Business Manager Audra Baakari Boyle.   “The Broom Squad volunteers are an invaluable part of the Peninsula Players Theatre family, dedicated to helping prepare and maintain Door County’s beloved theatre.   They arrive with great enthusiasm and bring a spark to our full-time staff each season.  We couldn’t be ready for our incoming  company members without them.”

The Boom Squad helps with projects such as moving benches from winter storage onto the property, spreading wood chips, and gathering fallen branches.  They also help with indoor projects such as dusting and preparing the dorm rooms and the theater itself for occupancy.  To register for the Broom Squad or other volunteer opportunities at Peninsula Players Theatre, phone the Box Office at (920) 868-3287 or email [email protected].
