Peninsula Players Theatre is proud to announce Addison Richmond as the recipient of the 2026 Peninsula Players Theatre Scholarship. Established by the Theatre and its Board of Directors, this annual award supports the educational and career aspirations of graduating high school seniors across Door County who are pursuing studies in the arts.
Created to foster the next generation of artists and arts leaders, the Peninsula Players Theatre Scholarship reflects the organization’s enduring commitment to arts education. As America’s oldest professional resident summer theatre, Peninsula Players Theatre continues to invest in emerging performers, musicians, designers, technicians, and arts administrators.
A graduate of Gibraltar High School, Richmond has demonstrated exceptional dedication, creativity, and leadership in theatre throughout her academic career. This fall, she will attend the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities, where she plans to pursue a degree in theatre arts with a concentration in stage management.
Richmond’s passion for theatre began in eighth grade when she participated in her middle school theatre production. While she first explored acting, she quickly discovered her true interest was behind the scenes. As a freshman, she was invited to serve as stage manager for a high school production, an opportunity that shaped her artistic path. She went on to thrive in leadership roles backstage, coordinating props, managing scene transitions, organizing scripts, and ensuring productions ran smoothly from rehearsal through performance.
Looking ahead, Richmond plans to expand her technical theatre skills in areas such as sound and lighting, as well as scenic and costume design. She aspires to combine her expertise in stage management with her love of travel by working with a touring production company.
The Peninsula Players Theatre Scholarship awards a minimum of $1,000 to one student from each of Door County’s five high schools, totaling $5,000 in annual funding. Eligible applicants must plan to enroll as full-time college or technical school students with a major or minor in arts management, music (performance or education), or theatre (including acting, theatre studies, theatre technology, or design). Applications are administered through the Door County Community Foundation.
