Welcome to the Renaissance and this outrageous, crowd-pleasing musical comedy and Broadway smash hit!
It’s 1595 and this hilarious musical romp features Nick and Nigel Bottom, two brothers who are desperate to write a hit play but are stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rock star known as “The Bard.” To try to get some help, Nick hires a local soothsayer who foretells that in the future we will see a new form of theater that involves acting, singing and dancing – all at the same time! It’s called a MUSICAL! Nick and Nigel eagerly set out to write the very first one, make a hit and beat that Bard! Amidst the scandalous excitement of opening night, however, the Bottom Brothers realize that reaching the top means being true to thine own self, and all that jazz. With its heart on its ruffled sleeve and sequins in its soul, Something Rotten! is “The Funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years!” (Time Out New York).
“Broadway’s big, fat hit!” (New York Post).
